The Board of Directors of Doha Bank has decided on March 15, 2005 to establish an Islamic branch to provide Islamic banking products and services to individuals, corporate and institutional clients across Qatar and GCC region. In this respect, a Sharia Supervisory & Fatwa Board have been assigned as required by Qatar Central Bank and Islamic Banking standards. 

Doha Islamic is open at Grand Hamad Avenue in Doha, Qatar, and has commenced its banking operations on June 15, 2005.

The role of Doha Islamic Sharia Board – which consists of three members - is to ensure the branch strictly operates and executes transactions in accordance with Islamic Sharia laws. Hence, a Sharia Compliance Audit Manager is appointed to represent the Sharia Board, review the transactions and report to the Sharia Board accordingly.
